Will AI like ChatGPT actually recommend my store?
It can, but only if it can read you. AI assistants recommend the stores they can clearly parse, trust, and quote. They cannot recommend what they cannot read. Visibility Mesh measures exactly how readable you are and shows you what to fix. Start with a free scan to see where you stand.
How do I know if AI can even read my store right now?
Run a free scan. In a few minutes you get a 0 to 100 legibility score, your maturity band, and your top issues with fixes. It reads your store the way an AI crawler does, so you see what the machines see, not a guess.
What is Visibility Mesh, in one line?
The measurement layer for AI search: we scan your store, score how legible it is to AI answer engines, and hand you a prioritized, plain-English list of what to fix first.
How is Visibility Mesh different from Ahrefs, Semrush, or my SEO tool?
Those tools optimize for ranking links in classic search. Visibility Mesh measures and fixes how AI answer engines read, trust, and cite your store, which is a different game with different signals. Keep your SEO tool for rankings and use Visibility Mesh for AI visibility; they are complementary, not duplicates.
How do I get started?
Run a free scan at visibilitymesh.com with your store URL and email. You get your score and top fixes by email, then you choose a plan only if you want the full picture. No credit card to start.
Who is this for?
Ecommerce and DTC store owners, the marketing and IT teams who share AI visibility, and agencies running it for clients. It works on any store, with the deepest analysis on Shopify.
AI visibility
What is AEO and why should I care now?
AEO, Answer Engine Optimization, is making your store readable and quotable to the AI systems that answer shoppers directly instead of showing a page of links. Shoppers increasingly ask an AI before they ever reach a search results page. If the AI cannot read you, you are invisible at the exact moment of intent.
Is AEO just SEO with a new name?
No. SEO optimizes for ranking a page. AEO optimizes for being the answer an AI gives. They share foundations like clean structure and schema, but AEO adds the work that makes an AI able to read, trust, and quote you specifically. You need both.
How do I get AI to see my store?
Make it machine-readable: allow AI crawlers, add complete structured data, write answer-first product and brand copy, and link your pages so an AI can follow them. A free scan tells you which of these you are missing, in priority order.
How do I get my products recommended by AI?
Give the AI what it needs to trust and quote you: complete, structured product data (title, description, attributes, price, availability), a clear brand identity, and consistent facts across pages. We score each of these and show the gaps that are costing you recommendations.
Why is my store not showing up in AI answers?
Almost always because the AI cannot fully read it: blocked crawlers, missing or incomplete schema, thin descriptions, weak internal links, or an unclear brand identity. Guessing which one wastes weeks. A scan pinpoints the exact causes for your store.
How do I get cited by AI?
Be the clearest, most complete, most machine-readable source for your products and topic. AI quotes sources it can parse and trust. We measure how citable you are today and list the specific changes that raise it.
How do I improve my AI visibility fast?
Fix the highest-impact issues from your scan first, then re-scan to confirm the gain. The fastest wins are usually crawler access, completing structured data, answer-first copy, and internal linking. We put them in the order that moves your score most.
What is a Schema Mesh?
A Schema Mesh is your structured data wired together so AI sees one connected, trustworthy entity instead of scattered pages: your organization, products, articles, FAQs, and breadcrumbs all linked by consistent identifiers. We measure how complete and connected yours is, and the fixes build it out.
What is agentic commerce and does it affect me?
It is shopping done through AI agents that browse, compare, and buy for a shopper. Agents reward stores with clean, complete, machine-readable products and policies. If your data is messy, the agent skips you. That is exactly what we measure and fix.
How do I prepare my store for AI shopping agents?
Give agents complete structured product data, clear pricing and availability, readable policies, and a consistent brand identity. Run a scan to see precisely where an agent would get stuck on your store.
Engines
Which AI systems does this help with?
The major answer engines and AI surfaces: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and AI shopping agents. The legibility work helps across all of them because they read the same public signals.
How do I show up in Perplexity or Google AI Overviews?
Be machine-readable and authoritative: structured data, answer-first content, strong internal linking, and a recognizable brand identity. These engines surface sources they can parse and trust, which is exactly what we score.
Should I let GPTBot and other AI crawlers in?
Yes, if you want AI to read and cite you. Blocking them in robots.txt keeps you out of AI answers entirely. We check which AI crawlers your robots.txt currently allows and flag the ones you are blocking by accident.
Fixes
How do I fix my SEO and structured data?
Start with a scan to get a prioritized list, then work top down. Most fixes are completing structured data, tightening titles and descriptions, fixing canonicals, and improving internal links. Every fix we give comes with the steps and a way to verify it worked.
How do I add product schema or JSON-LD on Shopify?
Shopify themes usually emit product schema already; the gaps are missing fields like availability, price validity, or reviews. Our detailed audit shows the exact fields you are missing and where to add them, so you are not guessing.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?
llms.txt is a short plain-text guide at your domain root that tells AI systems what your site is and where the important pages are. It is a low-effort, high-signal file that helps AI orient on your store. We check whether you have it.
What is robots.txt and how does it affect AI?
robots.txt tells crawlers, including AI crawlers, what they may read. If it blocks AI user agents, those systems cannot read or cite you. We report exactly which agents you allow and which you block.
How should I write product descriptions for AI?
Lead with one clear sentence stating what the product is and who it is for, then cover attributes, materials, sizing, and use cases in plain language. Avoid burying the facts under marketing copy. AI quotes the facts it can extract quickly.
How do I improve internal linking for AI?
Link related products, collections, and educational pages to each other with descriptive anchor text, so an AI can follow the relationships. Isolated pages are hard for an AI to place in context, and context is what earns a recommendation.
How do I get my brand recognized as a real entity?
Publish complete Organization structured data (legal name, address, founder, and links to authoritative profiles), keep your details consistent across pages, and connect a real author identity. We measure your entity completeness and tell you what is missing.
Why is my homepage scoring lower than expected?
A common cause is boilerplate, like a country and currency selector, dominating the page text and leaving little real content for an AI to read. A descriptive H1 and clear homepage copy fix it. Your scan will tell you if this is the issue.
Does page speed affect AI visibility?
It can. Slow pages and poor Core Web Vitals make crawling and rendering less reliable, which weakens your technical foundations. We factor measured performance into the score so you know if speed is holding you back.
How do I add an FAQ that AI can read?
Publish real questions and answers in plain language and mark them up with FAQPage structured data. It is one of the most quotable formats for AI answer engines, which is why this very page is built that way.
My canonical points to the wrong URL. Does it matter?
Yes. A canonical that points away from the page confuses both search and AI about which page is the real one. We flag canonical mismatches and tell you the correct target.
Do I need a developer to make these fixes?
Not necessarily. The findings are written in plain English for you, and the project plan turns them into assignable developer tasks with steps and acceptance checks. Do it yourself or hand it off, your call.
Scan & score
What does the free scan include?
You enter your store URL and email; we scan a representative sample of your key pages and email you a scorecard with your maturity level and your top issues, each with fix steps. No credit card, no install, no call.
How long does a scan take?
A few minutes. You see live status while it runs, and your results arrive by email and in your account.
What exactly is the score?
A measurement from 0 to 100 of how completely an AI answer engine can read, trust, and cite your store, across five categories. It is a diagnostic, not a vanity number.
What do the score bands mean?
Starting Point (0 to 39): AI struggles to read or place you. Developing (40 to 59): partially readable with real gaps. Established (60 to 79): solidly readable and citable. Leading (80 to 100): best in class. Most well run stores sit in Developing or Established.
Is a perfect 100 the goal?
No. A perfect 100 is a moving target, not a finish line, because AI systems and standards keep changing. What matters is your band and the direction you are moving. We publish our own score in the open to prove we hold ourselves to the same bar.
Is a low score bad?
A low score is not a verdict, it is a map. It means there is readable upside an AI is currently missing, and every point is a specific fix you can make. Most stores start in Developing; the value is knowing exactly what to change and watching the number climb.
Will I get the same score if I scan again?
Yes, within about a point. Scoring is deterministic, so a re-scan does not swing on its own. When your number moves meaningfully, it is because your site changed, which means you can trust the movement as real progress.
Do you guarantee my store will appear in AI answers?
No, and be skeptical of anyone who does. Nobody controls what AI systems say. What we control is whether your store is fully legible to them. We measure that precisely, fix what is broken, and show you the before and after.
What are the five categories you score?
AI Readability, Semantic Architecture, Technical Foundations, Schema and Structured Data, and Authority and Operational Discipline. Together they answer whether an AI can read, follow, trust, and cite your store.
How often should I re-scan?
Your store changes constantly with new products, theme updates, and app installs, and each change can affect legibility. Subscriptions re-scan monthly so drift gets caught before it costs you; free scans can be re-run after 30 days.
How soon will I see results in AI after I fix things?
Your score reflects the fixes immediately on the next scan. How quickly the AI systems themselves pick up the changes depends on their own crawl and refresh cycles, which we do not control, but a more legible store is the prerequisite either way.
Can I scan a competitor or any site?
You can scan any public website, since we only read what is publicly visible. It is a fast way to benchmark yourself against the stores AI already favors.
Can you scan a password-protected or dev store?
Not while it is password protected, because the scanner only sees the password page. Remove the password or use a publicly reachable URL, then scan.
Plans & pricing
What does it cost?
Subscriptions: Starter ($79/mo), Pro ($249/mo), Agency ($799/mo), each billed monthly with a 20% subscription discount. One-time: Full Assessment and Roadmap ($149), Catalog up to 1,000 products ($299), Catalog up to 5,000 products ($799). The scan is free.
How are plans measured?
In pages, not credits, so there is no conversion math. Starter scans 100 pages a month, Pro 400, and Agency 1,500. Catalog assessments are sized by product count.
Subscription or one-time, which do I need?
A one-time assessment is the full picture once: ideal to find and fix everything now. A subscription re-scans monthly so you track progress and catch drift. Start with the free scan, then pick based on whether this is a project or an ongoing discipline.
Which plan should I choose?
Run the free scan first. If you want the complete findings once, take the Full Assessment. If you publish often and want monitoring, choose a subscription sized to your page volume. Catalog assessments are for stores where the catalog is the business.
Can I see what I get before I buy?
Yes. The free scan is the preview: a real score, your maturity band, and your top issues with fix steps. The paid tiers expand that into the full findings, the complete fixes, and an assignable roadmap. You see real value before you spend anything.
Is the free scan really free?
Yes. It is a real score and your top fixes at no cost and no card. It is a representative sample rather than a full audit, so the paid tiers read more of your store and give you the complete list with every fix.
Why should I pay when free SEO advice exists?
Generic advice tells you what matters in general. We tell you what is wrong with your store specifically, in priority order, with steps and a re-scan to prove it worked. You are paying to stop guessing and to spend your fix-time where it actually moves the number.
Uploads
Can I upload my product catalog or theme?
Yes, on the Catalog and Agency products. After purchase you get a secure link to upload your product export (Matrixify or Shopify CSV or XLSX) and optionally your theme. It is optional; skip it and we assess your live store automatically.
What is the Catalog Assessment?
A deep analysis of your whole product catalog, every product rather than a sampled crawl. You upload your product export so the assessment reflects your entire store, which matters when the catalog is where you make your money.
What file formats can I upload?
Product data as CSV or XLSX (a Matrixify or Shopify export) and your theme as a .zip. Every file is safety-checked before it is processed.
Deliverables
What do I get after a paid scan?
Depending on tier: a scorecard report, a detailed audit with fixes and verification steps, a project plan you can assign to a developer, and an executive deck on the higher tiers. Everything in plain English, ordered by impact.
How are results delivered?
By email and in your account. Report links are private and time-limited for security, so your findings are not exposed publicly.
Can I hand the report to my developer?
Yes. The project plan is built as assignable tasks with owners, steps, and a score forecast, so a developer can work straight from it without a translation layer.
Do you fix my store for me?
We measure and tell you exactly what to fix, with steps and verification, and confirm the gain on re-scan. The changes are made by you or your developer today; guided, with-approval fixes are on our roadmap.
What happens right after I buy?
You get a confirmation, your scan starts, and your deliverables arrive by email and in your account, usually within minutes for a standard scan and up to two business days for a full assessment. Catalog and Agency buyers also get a secure link to upload product data so the scan covers the whole catalog.
Billing
How does billing work?
Subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically until you cancel. One-time assessments are a single charge. The 20% subscription discount is applied at checkout.
How do I cancel?
Anytime, from your account at account.visibilitymesh.com or by emailing support@visibilitymesh.com. Your plan stays active through the end of the current paid period and does not renew. No retention hoops.
What is your refund policy?
Deliverables are digital and produced on demand, so sales are generally final once a scan has run. If we fail to deliver, or a charge was made in error, email us within 14 days and we will re-run the scan or refund where appropriate.
Will I be charged again after I cancel?
No. After you cancel, your plan runs to the end of the current paid period and is not renewed, and you are not charged again.
Data & privacy
Is my store data safe?
Yes. We scan only what is publicly visible, uploads go to private storage with time-limited access, results are stored to your account, and you can request deletion at any time.
What data do you access?
Only what is publicly visible on your store, the same surface any visitor or AI crawler sees. For deep assessments you may optionally upload your own product or theme files.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Email support@visibilitymesh.com and we will delete it.
Do you sell or share my data?
No. We never sell your data. We use it to produce your assessment and, in de-identified aggregate only, to build industry benchmarks. Your store is never identified in those.
Platform
Do I have to be on Shopify?
No. The scan works on any public website, including WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix, and custom sites. The optional deep uploads are Shopify-shaped, so Shopify stores get the most detailed analysis.
Does this work for WooCommerce or Wix?
Yes. The live-site scan is platform-agnostic. Only the optional catalog and theme uploads are tailored to Shopify exports today.
Do you work for non-English or international stores?
Yes. The scan reads any public store regardless of language or market, because legibility signals like structured data, clean architecture, and crawler access are universal. Findings are delivered in English.
Trust
Do reviews help my AI visibility?
Yes. Reviews and ratings, especially marked up with structured data, are a trust signal AI systems read. They strengthen the authority side of your legibility, which is often the hardest part to earn.
What is your own score, and why publish it?
We scan our own store with our own engine and publish the result, currently 61 of 100, Established, updated monthly. We publish it because a score you can trust is the whole product, and we hold ourselves to the same bar we hold you.
Why should I trust this over another tool?
Because the score is reproducible and we publish our own in public. Scan the same unchanged store twice and you get the same number. No black box, no moving goalposts, no metrics we will not stand behind.
Agencies
Do you have anything for agencies?
Yes. The Agency plan includes higher scan volume and is built for managing multiple clients, with white-label and a client view on the roadmap. It turns AI visibility into a service you can sell.
Support
How do I contact support?
Email support@visibilitymesh.com. We reply within two business days.
